Katy Perry: "I'm Going to Go into a Cave" After My Movie

The singer, whose 3-D concert documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me opens July 5, says she's looking forward to some time off -- and to removing her hair extensions!

Katy Perry has had a whirlwind year that is culminating in the release of her upcoming 3-D concert movie, Katy Perry: Part of Me. So what does she plan to do now that free time is in her near future?

"I think I'm going to go into a cave after this, which might be appropriate," she told reporters -- including People and Us Weekly -- at the film's premiere Tuesday night. "I would like to be in a beautiful unplugged place where there's not a lot going on so I can get back into and hopefully write some good songs... Just take take these damn extensions out of my hair and fill my head again! Although I will look like a complete freak."

The film documents the 27-year-old's 11-month, 127-concert tour that took place from February 2011 to January 2012, and Perry has been going nonstop ever since. She tells People she was "in the edit bay every single time" while piecing together Part of Me, and made sure the movie was made just the way she wanted it. She even acted as a producer on the film because, she told the press, "I do everything myself. I'm a control freak."

In addition to her concerts, Part of Me depicts the crumbling of Perry's marriage to Russell Brand (the pair announced their split in late December). Although she's reportedly happily on-again in her new relationship with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd, Perry admitted that it's not easy having to relive the Brand parts of her life.

"It's not always very fun [watching the footage]," she said. "It's not like going out with your friends and having a drink and having a great time, but it's important to show that real people sometimes have to go through things in order to achieve things. Nothing great comes easily."

And she hopes that's what people take away from the film. "That's been my message, so that people can look at this and maybe they don't see how much work it takes and they have an unrealistic approach to achieving their dream," she said. "So I wanted to show them behind the curtain, what's under the hood -- show them all the stuff."

We can't wait to see what's under the hood when Katy Perry: Part of Me hits theaters July 5.
