If you had a $40,000 wedding ring, you'd have trouble taking your eyes off it, too.
That's the problem Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley is now happy to have, as she admitted Nov. 9 on Good Morning America, where she was promoting her newest period film, Anna Karenina.
"I keep doing this," Knightley said, waiving her left hand back and forth. "It's the engagement shuffle."
Knightley, 27, added, "It's a lovely ring, isn't it?"
After Knightley dated Klaxons keyboardist James Righton for more than a year, the British musician proposed in May. According to reports, they were introduced by their mutual friend, English supermodel turned TV personality, Alexa Chung.
"He can turn into this lovestruck puppy around her," a mutual pal told Us Weekly of the couple. "Honestly, they're good for each other. They love being engaged."
After six months with her 2-carat solitaire diamond on her finger, however, Knightley said the couple hasn't set a wedding date yet.
"We're both working too hard, so I'm just enjoying this bit."
Prior to her relationship with Righton, Knightley was in five-year relationship with her Pride & Prejudice costar Rupert Friend. They split in December 2010, only a few months before she was first spotted with Righton. This will be the first marriage for both Knightley and Righton.
For her latest title role as one of Russia's most iconic literary protagonists, Knightley said she'd gotten used to expensive baubles. After starring in high-profile campaigns for the Chanel, the English actress asked the fashion house to supply her with real gems her to wear in Anna Karenina.
"You get a two-million pound necklace [referring to the cost, not the weight], or whatever it was, and before long you're just kind of playing with it, like, 'What am I doing?'" Knightley joked.
Although those jewels weren't to keep, Knightley clearly loves the one bauble she can see every time she looks down at her finger.
"He did it very well," Knightley said of Righton's proposal. "The rings are great."
