Vampire by night -- chemical engineer by day? Kellan Lutz, who famously plays Emmett Cullen in the Twilight series, says although he loves acting, chemistry is his "biggest passion in life."
Lutz, 27, tells DuJour magazine that he's even created two inventions for which he's seeking patents.
"It's great because acting has given me the resources and platform to help charities but also the money to create my inventions and pay for the patent process," he says. "Attorneys aren't cheap!"
Despite his love of science, Lutz says he can't imagine giving up his craft.
"I want to act for the rest of my life," the Twilight actor says. "I'll win an Oscar one day, but I'm in no rush to get there. I don't care if that takes me 50 years, and I'm old. I just love what I do."
Lutz is fortunate to love working on one of the most popular movie franchises of all time. The final installment of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, hits theaters next month amidst the ongoing drama concerning the movie's two stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's off-again, on-again love.
After that, Lutz will appear in several films next year, including Tarzan, a remake of the classic 1932 movie Tarzan the Ape Man.
"It really is bittersweet," Lutz says. "It's very much like high school...and I'm ready to graduate."
