There's a good reason that Kellan Lutz doesn't go up to girls and hit on them -- but, despite the rumors, it's not because he's gay.
"I don't Google myself, but I've heard that people think I'm gay. I've heard it all," the 26-year-old Twilight Saga star admits to The Advocate. But Lutz says that's not the case at all; the reason he might not seem interested in women is simply that he's just not a go-getter.
"I don't really go after girls. Most of the girlfriends I've had have come after me," he says. "So it's really funny when girls get offended because I don't hit on them."
Lutz has dated 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord and Step Up 3D actress Sharni Vinson, but is currently single. He says it doesn't matter to him what people think of him, and credits the rumors with girls being insecure about themselves.
"(Girls) will transform their insecurity into, 'Oh, that makes sense, because I heard you're into guys and have a boyfriend,'" Lutz says. "I'm like, 'Seriously? That's your tactic to get me to like you?' There will always be rumors, but I know who I am."
That's not to say that Lutz has any problem with gay guys. He says that he prefers to have gay guys as roommates because "straight guys are just kids who don't pick up after themselves," and in his experience gay men are much cleaner. Lutz also says that he's really glad to count homosexual men as part of his fan base.
"Oh, they're the best. I love them," he says. "When I meet gay fans out and about, they're so great to talk to -- and I'm big on hugging, because I'm from the Midwest. They're just so energetic and loving. I'm proud to have those fans, and their support means a lot to me. I don't want just girls coming to my movies; I want guys to come too!"
