Kelly Clarkson is not known for being a fashion-forward celebrity. But showing off her shapely new figure on the cover of Lucky, Clarkson tells the magazine that she is obsessed with one particular fashion trend made popular by Kim Kardashian.
The Duets judge, 30, says that bandage dresses are her favorite, because of the extra support they provide her curves. "They're like built-in Spanx," she tells Lucky.
But despite her red-carpet preference for figure-hugging dresses, Clarkson says she feels most at home in denim. Being a Texas native, she explains, she "practically [came] out of the womb in jeans."
The original American Idol winner also isn't a big fan of complicated hair and makeup -- or even long manicured nails. "I just blow-dry my hair and put on mascara and lip gloss, and I’m ready to go," she told us. "I really don’t get long nails. They’re so Edward Scissorhands."
As for how she fits into both the world of pop and country, Clarkson -- who's currently dating Reba McEntire's stepson Brandon Blackstock -- says bridging the two worlds is part of her motto to stay true to herself.
"The hardest thing about being in this business is just being able to be yourself," she says. She adds that after several managers and producers, she's happy to have recorded her latest album, Stronger, with people who aren't trying to change her into something she's not.
"People act like there’s this one set of rules to follow to be a pop star, and I think, Well, you say I’m a pop star, so maybe that's not true."
