Singer Kelly Clarkson is happy to admit that she's yet to be lucky in love, but that doesn't mean she's questioning her sexuality. During an interview with The View on Wednesday, the Grammy winner decided to make it perfectly clear that one rumor about her is just wrong.
"I'm from a small town, so everyone's married with children or about to have children. It's a little hard when you go home and people are like -- and that's why people think I'm gay -- because they're like, 'Why aren't you married?' And I'm like, 'It doesn't happen for everyone right off the bat!'" the 29-year-old Mr. Know It All singer said.
The original American Idol champion, who hails from Burleson, Tex., told the ladies from The View that compared to her hometown friends, she feels like a spinster nearing 30 without a husband.
"I've dated some cool guys, but I don't know if I've dated someone where I could spend my whole life with them," Clarkson added. "The last date I went on was horrible, so I'd like to go on a good date."
Despite her desire for a long-lasting relationship, Clarkson remains steadfast in one goal: not to compromise her singing for anyone -- at least for the moment.
"I think it's my purpose, music. I might not want to do this when I'm 50, so I might as well do as much of it now."
