Khloe Kardashian should know by now that she can't protect her family from rumors. Still, when it comes to her little sisters, she's not stepping down without a fight. Khloe recently went on a Twitter rant in defense of half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner. The offending rumor was that the teenagers (Kylie is 16, Kendall is 17) have been partying a little too hard, sneaking into 21-and-over clubs and scoring drinks with fake IDs. Khloe inadvertently added fuel to the fire when she posted a tipsy-looking picture of herself and her sisters dancing. As she explained in her tweets, the photo was innocent -- and she's tired of people "assuming the worst" about two high school kids.
So sick and tired of people talking shit about my family. Last night I posted a picture of my little sisters at a CONCERT NOT a club. (1)— Khloé (@KhloeKardashian) October 27, 2013
Stop assuming the worst! Stop trying to make us into something that we aren't! Its NOT going to happen! Judge us if (2)— Khloé (@KhloeKardashian) October 27, 2013
you must but leave my little sisters out of it! They have enough to deal with as it is. Remember our words are our most painful weapon.— Khloé (@KhloeKardashian) October 27, 2013
Come for me all you want but LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!!— Khloé (@KhloeKardashian) October 27, 2013
Khloe offering to take a TMZ bullet for her sisters is touching, if pointless. The Jenner sisters are the Kardashian family's rising stars, and unless they decide to break with tradition and leave the spotlight, they're going to have to put up with rumors.
A few days before Khloe rushed to their defense, Kendall and Kylie attempted to make their own case on Twitter.
I am so done with everyone making my little sister and I out to be something that we are not. shut up with these stupid rumors and stories.— Kendall Jenner (@KendallJenner) October 23, 2013
no one has fake ID's and no one's partying. we know that's what all you slimy media people want to see but that is not going to happen.— Kendall Jenner (@KendallJenner) October 23, 2013
we're smarter than that, we have goals and personally I think it's sad that some people sit at their desk making things up...— Kendall Jenner (@KendallJenner) October 23, 2013
...about girls that are trying to have a career just like everybody else.— Kendall Jenner (@KendallJenner) October 23, 2013
get over it. no story here.— Kendall Jenner (@KendallJenner) October 23, 2013
I'm sorry to disappoint, but Kendall & I will not grow up to be let downs. I know that's what some people would unfortunately like to see...— Kylie Jenner (@KylieJenner) October 23, 2013
but I'm not going to sit around and let grown adults create untrue stories about me underage drinking & partying every night with a fake I.D— Kylie Jenner (@KylieJenner) October 23, 2013
..And F.Y.I. regarding the "club nights", I was with my father & family supporting my brother and sister-in-law— Kylie Jenner (@KylieJenner) October 23, 2013
We can stop with all the stories now— Kylie Jenner (@KylieJenner) October 23, 2013
And to all the young girls out there just like me, carry yourself with class and dignity and don't let ANYONE determine your future— Kylie Jenner (@KylieJenner) October 23, 2013
So it seems like they're being good and proactive about protecting their reputations. Kris Jenner has coached them well. We can't give their mom too much credit, though; it was her decision to raise her daughters inside a publicity machine, and now they're forced to handle the consequences on their own.
Or maybe this is all part of a master plan to take the attention off of Kris and Bruce Jenner's divorce, and Khloe's hubby Lamar Odom's drug problem? The media is being flooded with stories about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's engagement, and the Jenner sisters now have their pictures splashed everywhere, too. Maybe Khloe's Twitter rant was just expressing a secret Kardashian family code: if one of them is getting negative press, it's up to the others to redirect the spotlight.
