Khloe Kardashian is taller and (naturally) blonder than her big sisters Kim and Kourtney. Is it because she's Kris Jenner's daughter by a different father? That's the shocking claim that Robert Kardashian's second and third wives make in a new interview with Star magazine -- and Khloe is none too pleased.
"Khloe is not his kid -- he told me that after we got married," says Jan Ashley, 63, who married the Kardashian dad after his divorce from Kris Jenner was finalized. "He just kind of looked at me and said (it) like it was a matter of fact. He said, 'Well, you know that Khloe's not really a Kardashian, don't you? And I said … 'OK,' and that was it."
Robert's third wife and widow, Ellen Kardashian, 63, tells Star a similar story. According to Ellen, Robert always suspected that Khloe was not his daughter, because of both her appearance and the timing of her birth. Kris Jenner has admitted to cheating on Robert during their marriage, and Robert reportedly said that he and Kris were not sleeping together at the time that Khloe was conceived.
"Robert did question the fact that Khloe was his," says Ellen. "Any normal man would if they knew their wife had cheated on him... (But) he never would have considered a DNA test. He loved her very much."
Presumably in response to the accusation, Khloe lashed out on Twitter on Wednesday.
"The audacity you have to mention my father's name like this! Should be ashamed of urself!" Khloe, 27, tweeted. "I let a lot of things slide but this one is really low… YOU ARE DISGUSTING! (yes you know who YOU are)."
Khloe's fans have rallied around her, trending the Twitter topic "We Stand by Khloe" after the Star story broke.
In the past, Khloe has admitted that she's always felt self-conscious being compared to her lookalike sisters.
"I had very, very tough teenage years, because my sisters were always beautiful. I was pale, I had blonde curly hair, I did not look like them," she told Barbara Walters in December. "I had a very long awkward phase. I've always been taller, and my weight fluctuated. I got bullied my entire teenage life, always compared to my sisters. I've been asked a million times, 'Are you adopted?' I mean, that hurts."
Robert Kardashian, the father of Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and Rob Kardashian, died of cancer in 2003. Kris Jenner, who has two more children by second husband Bruce Jenner, admitted in her 2011 memoir that she had an affair in the mid-'80s.
"It's probably the biggest regret of my life," she told Jay Leno on The Tonight Show in November.
Our first reaction is to say that whoever Khloe's father is, it's no one's business but the Kardashian family's. And yet, the Kardashians have lived their lives by making their private affairs public. So now that there's a public accusation they'd rather not deal with, is it fair game? Or are there some things even the Kardashians deserve to keep private?
