Kid Scoop: Abigail Breslin, Two Star-Packed TV Movies, a New 'Pinocchio', and More!

With each serving of Kid Scoop, we share the latest news in the world of kids' TV and movies, so you can be the know-it-all for a change. This latest scoop features Abigail Breslin, two star-packed TV movies, a new Pinocchio, and more!

Janie's Got a Movie
The ever-busy Abigail Breslin will play the title role in Janie Jones, premiering this summer. Based on the childhood experiences of writer/director David M. Rosenthal, the film is about a musically-talented 13-year-old girl who moves in with her dad, a former rock star, after her mom goes into rehab. The film also stars Alessandro Nivola, Brittany Snow, Peter Stormare, Frances Fisher and Frank Whaley, and features original tunes from alt-country artist Eef Barzeley.

Suite Smell of Success
A Suite Life original TV movie hits the deck on March 25. Starring brothers and series stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse, The Suite Life Movie has the boys taking part in a weird science experiment involving twin-fusing technology and some really bad one-liners. At 18 and looking forward to attending NYU, the two might want to start thinking about breaking into real movies. I Am Number Five and Number Six, anyone? Catch a sneak preview that's NSFG! (Not safe for grown-ups).

The Sky’s Not the Limit
Flying into store aisles in Spring 2013 will be Planes, an original CG-animated direct-to-DVD film from Disney inspired by their Cars franchise. The film follows a small town plane who dreams of entering an epic air race despite his fear of heights. Does the idea of animated planes sound familiar? Somewhere, Jay-Jay is calling his lawyer.

Wooden You Know?
The Jim Henson Company and producer/director Guillermo Del Toro are collaborating on a new 3D stop-motion animated version of Pinocchio. The film is expected to head into production later this year. Given the producing presence of Del Toro -- he directed Hellboy and Pan’s Labrynth -- expect it to be a little darker than your average wooden-boy-comes-to-life-and-sings-with-singing-cricket story. The puppets will come from the same team who worked on The Fantastic Mr. Fox and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. But if there's any movie deserving of a stop-motion makeover, it's Pinocchio.

Kids' Choice
As your children already know, The Kids' Choice Awards air Saturday, April 2, at 8 p.m. with Jack Black returning as the host. Starting March 7, kids can vote online for their favorites in 20 categories. Until then, they can see the nominees and learn odd facts about each. Did you know "Favorite Movie Actress" nominee Kristen Stewart has green eyes but wears brown contacts to play Bella?

Game On!
Big iNews! iCarly's Jerry Trainor and Jennette McCurdy will star in the original Nickelodeon TV movie Best Player on Saturday, March 12. The movie is about two gamers who… oh, does it really matter? These are some of the funniest young people on TV (Well, Trainor's 34-going-on 17). Learn more about the show on the official website, where on March 5 kids can play a new game based on Black Hole, a fictional video game featured in the movie.
