This year, we saw a lot of ups (Hello, royal baby!) and downs (Thanks for nothing, government shutdown!). Through it all, these young people made us laugh, cry, and feel better about life. Cats that make us LOL are cute and all, but these kids are definitely cuter.
youtubeKid President (Robby Novak) posted his first video in November 2012, but “A Pep Talk with Kid President” in January 2013 is the one that got national attention. Who can resist this adorable guy, especially when he says, “This is life, people! You got air coming through your nose!”?
youtubeThat face! Have you ever seen such beautiful emotions on such a tiny little face? When Amanda Leroux of Ontario sings, her daughter weeps. (We assume that they’re happy tears, as mom has some serious pipes.)
youtubeIn October 2012, this teenage girl survived an execution attempt by the Taliban in Pakistan, who tried to silence her fight for girls’ education in her country. In 2013, still healing, she was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. Watching her address the United Nations Youth Council in July 2013, it’s easy to forget her young age.
youtubeSome of the kids were too sick to get out of bed, but that didn’t stop them from joining in the fun. If only we could all have their positive attitudes every day!
youtubeThese newborn twins who wouldn’t let go of each other really tugged at our heartstrings. The video was posted by a French nurse, showing her “baby spa” bathing technique. Not a bad way to enter the world, if you ask us.
youtubeWhen this little girl went ahead and made up her own routine to “Broadway Baby," we wanted to jump up and dance with her! We’re so glad a fast-thinking parent captured the whole, glorious act on video.
youtubeBig sis, Lily, broke down in tears of joy after being told (again) that they were taking a surprise trip to Disney. Can’t say we blame her. What exciting news! Her little sister, Chloe? Well, we’re kind of feeling her reaction, too.
youtubeWe thought we were in Vegas, but no. We were at Sam Horowitz’s Bar Mitzvah in Dallas. Sam descends into an already hot dance number, and when his feet (and bedazzled costume) hit the stage, he sets the place on fire. We love Sam because he knows how to have a good time!
youtubeThe cute baby boy, the sweet puppy, the way they stretch out or curl up together to take their daily nap. Every picture Jessica Shyba at Momma's Gone City captured was more adorable than the next.
youtubeThe boys on the team planned a secret play that even their coaches didn't know about. Dubbed the "Keith Special," it let learning-disabled teammate Keith Orr score his first-ever touchdown. We couldn’t be prouder of the Olivet Eagles if we tried.
youtubeWhen 5-year-old Miles asked the Make-a-Wish Foundation if he could be Batkid, they made it happen along with thousands of volunteers and adoring fans in San Francisco. After battling Leukemia for most of his life, it was beautiful to see Miles living a childhood dream.
