Kiefer Sutherland to Undergo Surgery; Production on '24' Stops

A health scare for Kiefer Sutherland has temporarily shut down production on 24. A rep for 20th Century Fox Studios confirmed to E! News that the actor suffered a ruptured cyst earlier in the week and will need to undergo surgery.

"While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps," the actor's rep tells the Los Angeles Times.

Though Jack Bauer may be momentarily out of commission, he'll be back to saving the world before you know it. "He looks forward to returning to work next week," his rep added.

As for Fox, they just want their star to get better -- and they assure us our 24-watching won't be effected by the 43-year-old's medical issue.

"We are temporarily suspending production of 24 while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure," the network said. "We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season's episodes."
