Kim Kardashian isn't too happy that Kris Humphries isn't allowing their marriage to die easily. Kardashian filed for divorce on Oct. 31, but Humphries countered on Wednesday by filing for an annulment -- claiming that their 72-day-long marriage was a "fraud" and that all legal records of their union should be forever erased from existence.
It's unclear whether Kardashian, 33, will support 26-year-old Humphries' decision to go through with that claim, but a source close to her tells People that the whole situation is a big-time bummer for Kim.
"The filing is, of course, upsetting," says the source. "She respects Kris and just wants them both to find peace and move on. ... Kim doesn't want a battle."
If the annulment is approved, it will be as though Kim and Kris' much-ballyhooed and extremely extravagant wedding never occurred. (Except, of course, for the hours of video proof that aired on the E! Kardashian special, Kim's Fairytale Wedding.)
According to People's source, Kardashian had initially looked into an annulment but opted instead for divorce when her lawyers advised her that it would be difficult to prove grounds for an annulment in court.
"Kim is sad how things ended up," says the source. "The split was a devastating decision from the beginning."
At least it sounds like an annulment is what both parties involved desire, so hopefully that's what they'll get. Then they -- and we -- can put this whole thing in the rearview.
