"I don't know why it took so long for us to get together but I think I needed to go through all my experiences," the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star tells Oprah Winfrey in the second part of their Oprah's Next Chapter interview, which airs Sunday at 8 p.m. on OWN (part 1 aired last Sunday). Watch a clip below.
Even though they've only been dating for a few months, Kardashian, 31, and West, 35, have known each other for a decade and have been close for almost two-thirds of that. It's that shared history, Kardashian thinks, that makes them such a good couple.
"It's very comforting to have someone that knows everything about you, that respects you, understands, has gone through the similar things," she says. "I can really relate to his mother passing. He can really relate to my father passing. I mean, there's so many similarities in our life that... I feel like I'm at a really happy, good space."
In part 1 of her with Oprah, Kardashian even implied that West might be the one -- even though she thought she had found "the one" in her short-lived marriage with Kris Humphries.
"I feel like I've had an epiphany over the last year for what I've been through, and I am that changed person just from my own experiences," she said. "I want babies. I want my forever, and I want my fairy tale."
We'll have to wait to see if "Kimye" stands the test of time, but in the meantime Kardashian can take a few pointers from younger sister Khloe about how to make a relationship work.
Oprah asked 27-year-old Khloe if she feels any added pressure about making her marriage to basketball player Lamar Odom perfect because she's always in the spotlight, and Khloe admitted that she just wants to be true to her husband.
"I don't feel the pressure by outsiders," she says in the interview. "I'm not someone who's easily influenced by the public.... My marriage is my real life. I feel the pressure from me -- from myself -- to be a great wife."
