The 31-year-old reality star has never been one of PETA's (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) favorite celebrities -- in fact, they named her their worst-dressed celebrity of 2010 -- but the animal rights organization is finally sick of her fur-happy fashion sense. In response to Kardashian's continued use of fur, in early December PETA is putting up a billboard at the corner of Beverly Boulevard and Sweetzer Avenue in L.A., calling Kim out on her animal-unfriendly ways.
The billboard (which can be seen above) shows a picture of two foxes next to a photo of Kardashian wearing a fur scarf, and reads: "Kim: These babies miss their mother. Is she on your back?"
PETA has been petitioning Kardashian to get rid of her fur for a while, even sitting her down to watch informational videos about fur farms to turn her off to using animal skins as clothing.
"Kim knows that animals on fur farms are beaten, electrocuted, and often skinned alive," PETA senior vice president Lisa Lange said in a statement. We've explained it to her, and she's watched a video exposé that was filmed inside fur farms.
"When Kim is ready to put an end to her relationship with fur, PETA will be happy to take her discards and donate them to the homeless." Looking to hit Kardashian where it hurts, Lange adds: "PETA hopes that the prominent billboard will finally be enough to convince Kim... to divorce herself from fur and say 'I do' to a more compassionate wardrobe."
But one star who thinks haters should go a little easier on Kardashian in the midst of her divorce scandal is Olivia Wilde. The recently-divorced Tron: Legacy actress tells Us that she empathizes with how difficult it to go through a divorce.
"[Divorce] is the hardest thing in the world," she says. "People judge you because divorce is seen as failure. [Kim] took a risk. No one should be attacking her. Our attention should be focused on things that are truly scandalous."
