It's only been a month since New Jersey Nets player Kris Kumphries proposed so romantically to Kim Kardashian, and in typical Kardashian-style, the two are eager to wed by the end of the year (and start a family soon after). So eager, in fact, that Kim's little sister Khloe Kardashian had to throw the pair a last-minute engagement party on Thursday.
"We obviously move really fast in my family," Khloe told Us Weekly. "We're so crazy busy, and Kris was going back to Minnesota to be with his family. We were trying to find a day where the two fiancees could be there with all of us. On Monday, we realized that Thursday was open, so I was like, 'Am I really going to throw a party on Thursday?'"
To pull the whole thing together on short notice was no easy task, and Khloe enlisted the help of party-planner Sharon Sachs. "She did my wedding in nine days," says Khloe. "So I was like, 'You can put together an engagement party in three days!'"
Fifty close friends attended, many of whom were family friends who had not yet met the groom-to-be. Khloe tells Us, "It was so sweet see everyone hang out with each other."
Kim's sisters Khloe and Kourtney are excited about the wedding, even joking that Kim is going to be a "bridezilla." Who will be Kim's maid of honor is still to be determined, but the Kardashians enjoyed the engagement party and -- keeping the good times rolling -- flew to Las Vegas the following night to celebrate Khloe's birthday at Sugar Factory American Brasserie and Chateau Nightclub & Gardens.
It's certainly a whirlwind for the Kardashians, and Khloe says the family is looking forward to some "downtime" in the summer.
Downtime for the Kardashians? We'll believe it when we see it!
