The offscreen drama continues for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast, as Kim Richards has reportedly checked herself into rehab. Multiple sources confirm to Entertainment Tonight that the former child star, now 47, is seeking help at an undisclosed facility.
The news shouldn't surprise the show's fans, who may have noticed references to Richards' potential substance abuse problem over the past two seasons. During this fall's episodes, she has admitted to taking a cocktail of prescription anti-anxiety pills and faced down Brandi Glanville's accusation that she was "wasted out of her f****ing mind" during their game night.
But the first (and biggest) hint that something was very wrong came during the season 1 finale, when Kim's sister Kyle called her an alcoholic during their brutal limo argument. When producer Andy Cohen brought this up during the season 1 reunion special, Kim denied that she had a drinking problem but refused to discuss it. (Watch the clip below.)
Richards' intention to seek treatment was first reported by Star, whose report says that her drinking problem was actually interfering with her ability to be on Real Housewives.
"People involved with the show are concerned and might have to step in," said the magazine's source (via RadarOnline). "Friends and family don't talk about what's going on with Kim."
Let's hope that Kim is getting the help she needs. The Beverly Hills cast has been through far too much this year -- for once, we think a Housewives show could do with a little less drama.
