Kirstie Alley is full of revelations. First she admitted to Barbara Walters that John Travolta was the "the greatest love" of her life, and now she's confessed that she and the late Patrick Swayze once had a secret connection that led to an emotional affair.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight that aired last night, the Dancing with the Stars contestant, 61, recalled how her chemistry with Swazye, whom she met on the set of the 1985 Civil War mini-series North and South, was intense and unforgettable.
Both were married at the time -- she to actor Parker Stevenson, whom she divorced in 1997, and he to Lisa Niemi, to whom he was married 34 years until his death on Sept. 14, 2009. But that apparently didn't stop the costars from letting sparks fly.
The Cheers Emmy winner claims they tried not "going down that road," but that they did fall in love. Alley clarifies that they did not technically "have an affair" -- at least not a physical one.
"But again, I think what we did was worse," she explains. "Because I think when you fall in love with someone when you're married, you jeopardize your own marriage and their marriage. It's doubly bad."
Alley also admitted that she isn't sure Niemi, whom she counts as a friend, knew about the relationship. Swayze's widow even asked Alley to speak at his 2009 funeral.
