The latest issue of US Weekly shows a beaming Kourtney Kardashian snuggling with her two kids, 2-year-old Mason and 4-week-old Penelope. But there's one thing the new mama surely can't be smiling about: According to the magazine, Kourtney's boyfriend of 6 years, Scott Disick, hasn't changed a single one of his baby daughter's diapers!
That's right, not a one. (To be fair, he tells the magazine: "My son is almost three and I don't mind changing his diapers, I'm just not comfortable doing it when the baby is that small. One wrong move and you could break the child's bone. At least my son can tell me, 'Dad, you're doing it wrong.' With a little baby it's scary.") That means that so far, Kourtney has very likely handled about 300 wet and dirty diapers herself. (Although we're betting that a sitter -- or sister -- might be helping, too.)
Am I being too harsh in thinking that Scott's complete absence from newborn diaper duty is kind of lame? For starters, practice makes perfect. Second, a fear of "breaking the child's bone"? Really? I doubt that Daddy Scott has such a rough touch that he'd break baby Penelope's bones by wiping her little bottom. Not to mention the fact that it's way more challenging to change a squirmy toddler's diaper (stinkier, too!) than a newborn's.
Us Weekly claims he's "stepped up as a dad." And yes, I get that there are plenty of worse things a dad could do (or not do, as the case may be) than refuse to get hands-on with the Huggies. But still...for Kourtney's sake, I hope Scott gets over his fear. Because unless they're planning on trying elimination communication, there are likely a lot more diaper changes in her future.
