Kourtney Kardashian has had her baby girl, and according to People, the reality TV star and her boyfriend, Scott Disick, have named her Penelope Scotland Disick.
We were kind of iffy on the name Penelope, which is a Greek name that means "weaver," when Tina Fey chose it for her second daughter -- mainly because she paired it with a Greek middle name and it all seemed so...expected. In Kourtney's case, we think it's slightly cuter (although we're still not crazy about it) simply because it is a more surprising choice. Plus, we give her kudos for skipping the family 'K' theme and for not starting another letter trend by picking an 'M' name to go along with big brother Mason.
What is a little groan-inducingly obvious: the baby's middle name, Scotland, which is clearly a nod to the baby daddy. (Or maybe where the baby was conceived? Who knows!)
Still, we'll be bracing ourselves for a slew of little Penny's and Nellie's in the future -- after all, Penelope was on the rise even before Kourtney claimed it, jumping 31 spots (to 169 in 2011 from 200 in 2010) on the Social Security Administration's list of popular baby names. And her first baby name choice, Mason, is now the second most popular boy's name in the country.
