Would you watch the premiere of The Kris Jenner Show? No? Maybe?
Would you watch it if you knew that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's baby, North West, would be making her first public appearance on said premiere? We thought so.
Apparently, so did Kris, who's coyly hinted (but never outright promised) to debut her new granddaughter on the first episode of her new talk show -- which premieres on Fox on Monday in six cities. (Click here to find out which cities, and the channels and times to watch.)
And now that's Kris has posted a photo on her Facebook page (along with the message, "You never know who will stop by our show today!"), it's pretty clear. Of course she plans to parlay the most talked about baby in the world into a steam-rolling, zeitgeist-blasting opening day for her chat fest.
She'd better hope that the other royal baby (you know, the real one) doesn't decide to make an entrance into the world today! Now that would be a marketing disaster. We can already hear the Fox executives freaking out if they have to decide: Do we override this baby with breaking news of the other one?
Another, much more dire possibility is that Kris is misleading fans on her Facebook page. According to TMZ, the baby in the photo "is owned by a hair and makeup person on the set." If that turns out to be true, and thousands tune in only to be disappointed, the Kris Jenner Show could be doomed from the start. Come for the baby, stay for the banal show about fashion, food, beauty and lifestyle trends? Yeah, right.
Ah, but remember: Things have a way of turning out beautifully for the Kardashians, a national punch line of a family that somehow still manages to command huge TV ratings for their show Keeping Up With the Kardashians. At this point, merciless teasing slides right off Kris' back. As the media pokes fun at the latest Kardashian ridiculousness -- naming a baby after a direction on a compass -- Kris has stuck up for her daughter's choice. "I love the name North," she told the ladies of The View. "I'm pro-North, absolutely. …The way [Kim] explained it to me, north means highest power, and North is their highest point together. I thought that was really sweet."
As for the show itself, Kris has wisely decided to remind viewers of her other TV hit. "The set looks exactly like the foyer of my house," she told E!, and she likens it to "one big summer party." Watch the clip here:
Jenner has arguably become famous due to her proximity to celebrities. So it's no surprise that she's managed to line up a different famous co-host to sit beside her each day for the show's six-week run. (Fox will decide whether or not to order a full season based on the success of this trial run.)
"The best-case scenario is that people will like what they see and want more," she told E!. "And the worst case scenario is I go back to work on something else."
Actually, the worst case scenario is that people come after her with pitchforks for faking the baby's debut. But rather than worry about that, let's focus on the positives. Like this fabulous set!
