Kristen Johnston Reveals She's Suffering From a Rare Form of Lupus

The actress' recent diagnosis forced her to miss filming a couple episodes of The Exes

She's such a strong woman!

The Exes star Kristen Johnston has revealed that she is suffering from Lupus Myelitis, a rare form of Lupus, that can often leave her "almost completely unable to move."

On Tuesday, the Emmy-winning actress posted a message to her Facebook page, saying "It's time for me to be upfront with you about something that's been going on with me."

Johnston explained that beginning in September, she started becoming "really, really sick," admitting that at certain times, it was a challenge to even try to walk up the stairs. Her symptoms included "full body muscle weakness to the extent that just walking difficult, stairs impossible and I even need a neck brace to hold my head up."

Because of this sudden diagnosis, the actress had to take a two-episode break from her hit TV Land show -- which is why Leah Remini filled in. "Through the fall, I shot as much of The Exes as I possibly could, but eventually I did have to (BEGRUDGINGLY) miss two episodes," Johnston posted. "Thank GOD for Leah Remini!!...You guys will laugh your asses off at her as Stuart's sister. I promise, you won't even miss me! (Well, maybe a teeny tiny bit?)."

Johnston did not specify the "rare autoimmune disorder" that she was suffering from in Tuesday's post. But by late Wednesday, news had already broke about her illness, forcing her to address the rumors.

"I'm not trying to be 'coy,' 'relevant' or 'get attention,' " she declared. "I just was diagnosed two days ago with a rare form of Lupus called 'Lupus Myelitis' – Google it. I'm not on my death bed … far from it. I'm gonna be fine."

Why didn't she go into further detail in her original post? The actress explains that she "wanted to have a few weeks of privacy to navigate it and receive treatment. The only reason I said anything is because I won't be in a few episodes."

But fans shouldn't fret -- Johnston says that she is "on the right treatment, feeling better and back to work!"
