Twilight star Kristen Stewart may not be the biggest fan of fame, but she can admit the error of her ways. Stewart, 20, recently told U.K.'s Elle magazine that photos of her taken by the unyielding paparazzi make her "feel like I'm looking at someone being raped" -- and that analogy has caused an uproar.
Stewart, who is currently promoting the latest installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, now tells People, "I really made an enormous mistake (using the word 'raped'), clearly and obviously. And I'm really sorry about my choice of words. 'Violated' definitely would have been a better way of expressing the thought."
The young star, who is no stranger to speaking her mind, realized she went too far this time. "I've made stupid remarks before, and I've always reasoned: 'Whatever. They can think what they want," Stewart stated.
But, Stewart certainly cares this time, particularly when it comes to something so serious. The actress, who played a rape victim in the 2004 film Speak, has even done public service announcements for both RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest, National Network) and Security On Campus, Inc. Stewart admitted, "People thinking that I'm insensitive about this subject rips my guts out. I made a big mistake."
