Apparition
Are you as excited about the upcoming film The Runaways (the true story of the first all-girl American punk band) as we are? In newly released photos, New Moon's Kristen Stewart, transformed into '70s rocker Joan Jett, actually makes us want leather pants and a shag haircut of our own. And Dakota Fanning is practically unrecognizable as Cherie Currie, the band's charismatic 16-year-old frontwoman.
Even better, Stewart and Fanning are featured in this new clip from the movie, showing the first meeting between the groundbreaking musicians. In a crowded post-disco club, the band's founder Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon) drags a reluctant-looking Jett (Stewart) across the room to tell Currie he wants her to be in their band because he and Jett like "her look." When asked if she can sing, Cherie gushes, "I won a contest lip-synching to David Bowie!" That's apparently good enough for Fowley, who leaves the two to get acquainted. (If you're curious about how that first meeting went down in real life, read Currie's version here.)
We're looking forward to more -- but in the meantime, we have the teaser trailer to tide us over. The Runaways opens on March 19th.
