Rumors have been swirling that Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig is giving up her regular gig on Saturday Night Live -- but the comic actress says that's not the case.
"I love the cast," the 38-year-old comedy star says in the December/January issue of Paper magazine. "We're like Melrose Place without the murder."
Through her publicist, Wiig has denied the speculation that the current season is her last as a regular, but fans won't know for sure until next summer, since casting decisions aren't finalized until the end of the season.
In the meantime, it's clear that the utility player, who is often compared to Will Ferrell as one of the most versatile actors ever to grace the legendary sketch show (even boss Lorne Michaels said she was one of the "top three or four" cast members -- of all time!) will be busy juggling all of her upcoming projects.
On top of her SNL work, Wiig is following her tremendous Bridesmaids success (she wasn't just the star, she also co-wrote it with her writing partner Annie Mumolo) with Friends With Kids, a romantic comedy that reunites her with Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm and Chris O'Dowd. She'll also play Glee star Darren Criss' older love interest in the independent black comedy, Imogene.
But there's more.
"I'm writing something by myself that's not a comedy," Wiig tells Paper. "It's just a smaller indie movie, which is the sort of thing I actually gravitate towards. I just wrote a big chunk on a plane ride."
