Between her otherworldly outfits and record-setting string of No. 1 hits, Lady Gaga sometimes seems superhuman. So fans were understandably shocked when the singer nearly passed out during a recent show in New Zealand. A widely circulated YouTube video shows Gaga, 23, acting oddly sluggish during a performance of "Bad Romance," dancing half-heartedly and repeatedly sinking to the floor, even removing part of her costume as if it were too heavy. Afterwards, her tour promoter announced that the singer was fine, simply dehydrated and exhausted after performing in a hot auditorium for over two hours.
On Friday, the Fame Monster herself went on Australian radio to clear the air. "I was so jet-lagged," Gaga confessed. "I passed out about three times on stage that night but I got myself to the floor. I'd rather die on stage than walk off because I was going to pass out."
While her dedication to her fans is admirable, many wonder if the hardworking singer has bitten off more than she can chew as she tours the globe at a hectic pace. Back in january, she postponed shows because of exhaustion, and now the worldwide Monster Ball tour has her squeezing 100 performances into less than 10 months. And the singer's extreme success has triggered legal problems for her -- take, for example, the ex-boyfriend who's suing her for $35 million. "She's on the verge of tipping," an anonymous friend tells People. "She's only human."
