Gossip Girl is known for being all about Drama with a capital D, but tonight's episode will feature a new kind of drama: the self-described performance art of Lady Gaga.
People.com caught up with the "Bad Romance" singer after a taping of her appearance on the CW series and asked the question on everyone's mind: What will she be wearing?
“We discussed having a very flowy red dress,” she said. “But [the dress] arrived today and it’s about 30-feet long! That was an adjustment. But nothing that I couldn’t handle.”
True to Gaga tradition, she said her Gossip Girl cameo is more about how she looks than how she sounds.
“It’s a little bit more of a fashion montage,” she said. “It’s very performance art.”
As for how the shock-pop star will fit into the Gossip Girl storyline, she'll be playing herself at a private show that Blair (played by Leighton Meester) has commissioned in order to impress her friends and frenemies.
Though her performances have raised eyebrows in the past -- her blood-covered VMAs spectacle comes to mind -- Gaga told People she tried to keep it relatively appropriate this time.
“I’ve got so many young fans,” she said. “I forget sometimes, but I try to be mindful of that in my work.”
Though Lady Gaga may seem a far cry from the Manhattan elite on which Gossip Girl bases its premise, it turns out the 23-year-old singer has more in common with the snobby prep-school kids of the nighttime soap opera than some might think.
Like Meester's character, Gaga attended NYU, and she turned down her acceptance to the prestigious Juillard School to attend the private school, Convent of the Sacred Heart, instead. Oh, and like the lead Gossip Girl characters, Gaga has dabbled with bisexuality.
Gaga's episode of Gossip Girl airs tonight at 9 p.m. EST.
