Don't you hate it when your new single leaks before you were ready to release it? No? Let's face it -- pop stars have different problems than we do. So where did Lady Gaga turn when her song "Applause" unexpectedly hit the Internet this weekend? To another singer who was having the exact same problem: Katy Perry.
Perry's new song "Roar," which was supposed to come out on Monday, was leaked on Saturday. That's only two days difference, but it definitely stole some of her thunder. Gaga, on the other hand, had planned to hold her track "Applause" until Aug. 19. So she was understandably peeved when it hit the web nine days early:

After using the caps lock key to express her frustration, Gaga reached out to Perry for some sympathy, tweeting, "Wanna grab some shovels and f**k up some hackers? @katyperry excited to hear your ROAR, sorry to hear about your truck!" (Katy's 18-wheel promo truck was hit by an alleged drunk driver in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Pennsylvania.)
Perry responded right away with praise for Gaga's single, writing, "@ladygaga what a WILD weekend so far... claws out, paws up! Looking forward to puttin my hands up & making them touch too!"
Both artists officially releasing their singles on Monday means that the two will be jockeying for a No. 1 spot on the charts. Unsurprisingly, this has led to some online sparring between the Katy Cats and the Little Monsters, which Gaga is trying to shut down.
"I support pop music and more artists putting out new music just means more for music lovers to enjoy. Don't fight with Katy's fans, or anyone," Gaga urged her Little Monsters fan community on Saturday. "STOP THE DRAMA. START THE MUSIC."
We agree! Who doesn't want to live in a world where Gaga and Katy are best buds? Let's take a moment to listen to their new singles, and imagine how each artist would react to the other's song.
