It's December, so you know what that means: Time to make lists! No, not gift lists. (Well, it's probably time to make those, too.) Year-in-review lists!
Google reports that "Lady Gaga" was their most-searched image in 2009. “People are always wondering what she looks like. She looks different all the time,” Google VP Marissa Mayer said on the Today show.
Can't argue with that! We were especially intrigued by how different Gaga looked each time she appeared on the MTV VMAs broadcast.
Lady Gaga also appeared on another one of Google's most-searched lists this year: Lyrics to her song "Poker Face" came in at #10 on their "fastest rising in entertainment" rankings.
Microsoft made internet news of their own this year with the launch of their Bing search engine. As for what people sought most on Bing? No surprise there: Michael Jackson was the top "trending topic" of the year for Bing, which debuted in May.
Meanwhile, over at Yahoo!, Lady Gaga was the #7 most-searched term for their mobile service. Topping that list was another very popular lady of pop-culture: Megan Fox.
As for the most popular Yahoo! search overall, that honor went to the late Michael Jackson. Jackson also topped their "celebrity farewell search" list. Right behind him at #2, somewhat eerily, is Farrah Fawcett, the celeb who passed away on the same day Michael did (June 25th).
Of course we couldn't go much further without mentioning the most-popular breakup of the year. Jon and Kate Gosselin were #1 on Yahoo!'s other topical search statistic for celebrities: the top-10 "sudden-fame" searches for 2009. Number two on that list was the ESPN host at the center of a peep-camera scandal, Erin Andrews. Susan Boyle is at the #3 slot in that list.
