Lady Gaga Praises Adele's Body Confidence

"Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? She's so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match," said Gaga

Lady Gaga wants to be more confident in her body image, and she's looking to Adele for pointers. In an interview with Stylist magazine, Gaga, who is currently traveling the world on her Born This Way Ball tour, praises the British vocalist for not letting her weight define her.

"Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it? She’s so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match," Gaga declares. "She has set the bar very high for a lot of woman."

The "You and I" singer, who revealed in September that she had a history of eating disorders, resents that her recent weight gain made headlines. "When I heard it was on the news, where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the election – I just thought, 'This is f***ng ridiculous,'" she fumes. "I mean, what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home? I thought, well I don’t really care if they think I’m fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds."

Clearly, Gaga did care, because she posted those underwear photos and talked about her struggles with bulimia and anorexia. But she did manage to spin it all into something positive with her "Body Revolution" movement, encouraging fans to share photos of themselves in defiance of unrealistic beauty standards. Looking forward, Gaga plans to emulate the "Skyfall" singer by focusing on the music -- and not the petty criticism.

"I don’t have to do very much anymore but make music, because my fans do it all for me. They carry the message so far," she says. "I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people."
