Lady Gaga

We already loved Lady Gaga but she inspired us in 2011 for using her massive celebrity to bring national -- and international -- attention to the growing epidemic of bullying. The singer admitted to being bullied in high school and then, after gay teen fan Jamey Rodemeyer committed suicide following incessant bullying, she took her passion all the way to the White House to push for anti-bullying legislation.  "Bullying must become illegal," she tweeted in September. "It is a hate crime." The pop diva is an example of a celebrity using her worldwide influence to make a difference and for that, we salute the iconic performer as one of the 10 women who inspired us most this year.

Watch this episode of iVillage 5 where we honored Lady Gaga for her fight against bullying.
