It looks like Christmas came early for Little Monsters!
Lady Gaga's music video for her latest single "You and I" was set to debut on MTV on Thursday night during a special called MTV First: Lady Gaga. The Mother Monster, 25, was scheduled to give a live interview during the show and make a big announcement after the video's premiere.
But things don't always go according to plan.
The video was reportedly leaked two days early, so Gaga decided to share it herself via Twitter on Aug. 16. She had previously promised that her 1000th tweet would be a link to the video, so she took up some space by posting "F**K," "THURS" and "DAY," each in a separate tweet. As promised, her 1000th tweet was a link and a special message.
"YouAndIVideo: You must love all + every part of me, as must I, for this complex + incomprehensible force to be true," she wrote.
Ryan Seacrest then twittered his support. "Kinda sucks it leaked early, but here's @LadyGaga's video for 'you and i,'" he wrote. "Head up gaga!"
As for the video itself, it's pretty much what we've come to expect from the superstar. It features Lady Gaga dancing provocatively in several bizarre outfits, simulating sex while wearing a mermaid tail and running wildly through a Nebraska cornfield. It also shows her signature dark side, as she gets tortured and electrocuted.
But the most interesting part is that Gaga's male alter ego, Jo Calderone, is also featured in the video. (The pop star foreshadowed his appearance last week by posting a photo of herself dressed in drag as Jo on the single's cover.) Dressed in a white T-shirt and black jeans, "Jo" sits atop a piano as the female Gaga plays the keys. He chain-smokes and chugs beers before grabbing Gaga and pulling her in for a sloppy makeout session.
Now that's taking self-love to the next level!
