Lady Gaga has worn some outrageous outfits in her time, but her final getup at Sunday's VMAs may have just taken the, um, steak. The night's big winner donned a dress made of actual meat, designed by Franc Fernandez, and even had shoes and purse to match!
The "Alejandro" singer joined Ellen DeGeneres for the season 8 premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday to explain her thoughts behind the very unusual dress.
“Well, it’s certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian. I, as you know, am the most judgment-free human being on the earth,” Gaga told Degeneres. “However, it has many interpretations, but for me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.”
Gaga has been adamant about sending her beefy message to the world, and even posed for the cover of Vogue Japan wearing a meat bikini.
“I am not a piece of meat!” she told DeGeneres, holding up the magazine.
The talk show host then suggested Gaga try something a little less artery-clogging, and offered up a vegetarian-inspired swimsuit she created herself!
