Lamar Odom knows a good woman when he sees one. Which is why the L.A. Lakers star says he didn't hesitate to snatch up wife Khloe Kardashian when they met.
"It was quick," Odom admitted of his transformation from bachelor to married man, in a new interview with Playboy. But the 31-year-old said he knew he had to move, if he wanted to make Kardashian his wife.
"With her I was like, 'If I do what I normally do, I'm going to lose her. And if I lose her, I think it's going to hurt a lot,'" he said. "Right then and there I knew. We were together every day."
In the past, Odom says, he wasn't interested in taking on a serious relationship. "Being married, that's a responsibility. I always used to tell that to women. I don't want a girlfriend because that means I've got a responsibility," he explains. "Most men like more than one woman."
But when he connected with Kardashian, all of that changed. The couple was dating only one month when they began planning their wedding, and now the affectionate twosome is starring in their own reality show, Khloe and Lamar.
Despite what the gossip mongers out there may say, Odom swears his love for Kardashian isn't just for show.
"That's just how gossip works, you know? You can't stop it," he says, adding that he realizes their sudden marriage may seem curious to some. "It was quick," he says. "I guess that just added to the speculation – 'Why can't they wait?'"
Odom's answer to them is simple: "I didn't want to wait."
