Your child will:
• Be read to every day from good literature the teacher selects, choose library books on his or her own and listen to tapes while following along with the book.
• Participate in writing group stories, with each child contributing a sentence or two.
• Read and re-read predictable books, poems, fingerplays and nursery rhymes to hear patterns in the language.
• Begin their own writing, by first dictating to an adult or older child and soon by labeling pictures he or she has drawn.
