Laura Linney: I'm Happy 'Love Actually' Is a Christmas Tradition

The actress says she's thrilled that her hit movie has become a holiday TV staple

For Laura Linney, this is indeed the most wonderful time of year. Not only is she in the holiday spirit "all the time," but she is thrilled to be part of a movie associated with the season.

"I love Christmas, I love it, I love it!" the award-winning actress gushed to host Jimmy Fallon on his Late Night show

Fallon pointed out that one of his favorite Linney films is Love Actually which is shown on heavy rotation this time of year. "It's on 24/7, and I can't go away from it when it's on," he pointed out to the star.

"I know, it's become a bit of a Christmas tradition for people, and for me that's the greatest thrill," Linney agreed. "The fact that I'm in something associated with Christmas makes me over the moon."

Making Love Actually is a highlight of Linney's career, she explained, because she associates it with the Academy Award-winning movie she was also making at the time.

"I was shooting Mystic River at the exact same time, so I was flying back and forth between the two sets," she recalled.

Fallon quipped that she was getting the best of both worlds, between all the great actors in the English film and the amazing cast of director Clint Eastwood's Mystic River.

"I did, I would have a little brutal Boston and then fly over for some British cheer," she said.

The Hyde Park on Hudson star's attachment to Christmas-related productions, she revealed to Jimmy, goes all the way back to childhood, when she appeared in a Christmas play.

"It was 1970, I think, and I was Mrs. Claus in a feminist interpretation of the Christmas experience," she mused about the production (she would have been 6 at the time). "Santa had a cold, and he was sick, too sick, and Mrs. Claus had to take over. So, I prevailed."
