Reality stars are often just a flash in the pan, but Lauren Conrad is not one of them. The former Hills star is proving that she is more than just a pretty face, as the fashion designer and author has just signed another three-book deal with publishing company HarperCollins.
Conrad -- whose first novel, L.A. Candy, went to no. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list -- is taking a character from her first three-book series and giving her new life in The Fame Game. Writing what she knows, the upcoming trilogy will be set in the reality TV world. According to Conrad, the stories feature Madison Parker, an ambitious, ruthless character from the L.A. Candy series who's ready to become a star no matter what it takes.
"This series is about a girl who loves everything that fame is, and that's all she's ever really wanted," Conrad told UsMagazine.com. "(Madison) has fun with the press, she enjoys the attention, she welcomes scandal!"
Paging Heidi Montag?
Though we may think Conrad may be taking a page from her former friendship with media staple and plastic-surgery spokesmodel Montag, the 25-year-old swears the story is fiction.
"No. We have fun with it!" Conrad says. "We kind of take (Hollywood) stereotypes."
As for her real life, Conrad is still happily dating actor Kyle Howard -- and she's even managed to get him reading her "chick lit."
"He read my first book, which was very sweet," Conrad laughed. "I told him he didn't have to read the rest. I don't think he's the target market!"
