Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter aren't the only onscreen siblings turned real-life couple. It looks like Parenthood costars Lauren Graham and Peter Krause have taken a cue from the Dexter duo (who wed in 2008).
Graham, 43, who plays Sarah Braverman on the NBC dramedy (which returns on Tuesday, Sept. 14), chatted with Redbook magazine about her romance with Krause, 45, who plays her brother Adam on the series.
Turns out, long before the pair played sibs, they were friends who "clearly had a connection," but shyness and timing kept them apart. Fifteen years ago, when Graham moved to Los Angeles, Krause invited her over to his place...to play board games. (Cute!)
"I think we liked each other (but) he asked me over to his house to play a board game – and that's exactly what we ended up doing," Graham explains. "So I was like, 'This guy doesn’t like me. Who actually plays a board game?' The timing wasn't right. I don’t think either of us was ready."
Eventually the couple did manage to get the timing right, and they took things to the next level. "It's a lot, to work with somebody and spend time with them, too," the former Gilmore Girls star says. But she adds that dating Emmy-nominee Krause, 45, "has been so fun is that it's so easy."
So, how did the couple keep their relationship under wraps for so long? "Nobody knew about it for awhile, because we like to be at home, cooking and not going out," she says.
Graham admits that she worries about their romance affecting the show. "I've also been really protective of it, because it's important that you can buy us as brother and sister on the show," she says.
Speaking of family dynamics, it seems as though Graham might be ready to start one someday with Krause. "I would like to be part of a family, however that looks," she says. "Family is really important to me."
