So we’re all aware of the magic of Photoshop. Heck, we can download apps on our smartphones in order to adjust the lighting, eliminate the redness from our eyes and add cute sayings and filters to our snapshots.
And when it comes to pictures that are shown to the masses, they are most likely altered…I mean enhanced…to some degree. Erase a wrinkle or two, shave a pound or 10 and suddenly the subject is brighter, lighter and younger than they’ve ever been (or ever will be), which, sadly, can play a role in body image issues among us “regular” people.
Females tend to look at photos of celebrities, models, etc. and think, “I wish I had thighs that didn’t touch” and “If only I had flawless skin.” And now, thanks to Target, we might think "I wish I had no crotch?"
Yes, you’ve read that correctly.
Target is selling a bikini on their website that is being modeled by a young lady whose crotch has been chopped in half. Damn, that’s got to hurt.
Oh, and did I mention this bathing suit (Xhilaration® Junior's Midkini 2-Piece Swimsuit -Leopard Print, to be exact) is part of their junior line? Yeah. We know people make mistakes but you've got to be a little more careful here.
Jezebel reported on this hideous excuse for a photo touch-up and though we don't think it's conspired, somebody's gotta learn to double-check their work here. I mean, you took away her crotch and gave her an extra armpit. Come on. Was it worth getting the body-image patrol all worked up?
Ironically, do you know what has also disappeared along with a portion of this poor girl’s vajayjay? The link to this bathing suit bottom. So now, on top of everything, you can't even get the complete set. Thanks, art department intern!
Luckily, you can't purge cache on Pinterest so we found a pic of the bottoms you can no longer buy — in case you cared and wanted to see the bad photoshopping job.
