LeAnn Rimes: I Felt "Pathetic" During Eddie Cibrian Affair

The songstress opened up to Jay Leno about her new song, "Borrowed," which is about her adulterous relationship with her now husband

LeAnn Rimes isn't afraid to talk about her affair with now-husband Eddie Cibrian. Though it took place in 2009, Rimes is still opening up about it in interviews and in her songs.

During a visit to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Rimes debuted her new song "Borrowed" which is all about the affair. The chorus has the lyric, "I know you're not mine, only borrowed," and Rimes says that's her way of trying to explain what it is like to be in an affair for those who never have been.

"I did go through a very public affair and now he's my wonderful husband, but for people who haven't been in that situation, I guess it's a look into the darker moments of things," she says. "I call myself 'pathetic' in the song and I loved using that word. That's the only way I knew how to describe myself because at that moment I was pretty pathetic."

Rimes also went through treatment to help her deal with the "stress and anxiety" that has become a part of her life. After she turned 30 this year, she entered rehab for 30 days because, as she describes it, the numbers have significance to her.

"The last four years have been super compressed with stress and anxiety. Going through what I've gone through -- the affair and getting married and being a stepmom and the whole deal and dealing with it all -- I didn't know how to deal with it all so I needed the tools so I went in to take care of myself. That's it," she says. "It's complicated and as simple as that."

Though she's become a tabloid fixture in recent years, Rimes has been a part of the celebrity scene for much of her life. When Leno asks if there's anything she would change throughout the course of the year, she laughs and says that her life is good right now.

"I'm sure there are many things I would have done differently. I've come to this point in time and this point is good. The good and the bad, you take the good with the bad and the bad with the good, and I think I've learned a lot in my 30 years," she says. "It's been a tricky year."

But it wouldn't be a LeAnn Rimes interview without at least one mention of Cibrian's ex-wife, Brandi Glanville. Leno brings up the fact that Rimes' affair was brought into the storylines on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and Rimes cracks, "There's no reality in a reality show." Burn!
