VOTE: Do You Think Lena Dunham's "First Time" Pro-Obama Is Tasteful?

"Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody," says the Girls star about voting -- "You want to do it with a great guy"

Girls star Lena Dunham is turning some heads for her new video released to endorse Barack Obama. The video, which is slyly written in a style Dunham is becoming known for, compares the act of voting to losing one's virginity. In both situations, Dunham explains, you want to have a "great guy."

"Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy," she says. "Someone who really cares about and understands women. A guy who cares whether you get health insurance, and specifically whether you get birth control. The consequences are huge."

Dunham goes on to endorse Obama's support of gay marriage.

"Think about how you want to spend those four years," Dunham continues. "In college-age time, that's 150 years. Also, super uncool to be out and about, someone says, 'Did you vote?' [and you answer] 'No, I didn't feel like it, I wasn't ready.'"

Dunham ends her video by talking about her own "first time" going to the polls, and makes her clearest first-time-having-sex allusions.

"My first time voting was amazing. It was this line in the sand: before I was a girl, now I am a woman. I went to the voting stand, I pulled back the curtain, I voted for Barack Obama," she says.

Many celebrities have been coming out to encourage young voters to go to the polls, so it was smart for the Obama administration to turn to Dunham, who has become a voice of her generation with HBO's Girls. But the 26-year-old is already getting as much press for her metaphor as she is for endorsing Obama. Well, we guess that actually is pretty smart, because nothing gets teens and twentysomethings' attention like talking about sex!
