Allowing them to take a library book, a few dolls that Dad may not have, or even their brand-new Lego Star Fighter makes the house-to-house transition less abrupt. "Unless it's something expensive, or something that I don't want to go hunting for, I let them take what they want," says mom Kristin O'Neil of Glen Ridge, NJ, whose sons even ask to take their Wii controllers to their dad's.
