Like so many fame-hungry, good-looking people without any particular talent, Levi Johnston is hoping to become the next big reality star. For months, we've been hearing rumors about the TV shows he's been pitching: Levi and his friends go hunting and ice fishing in Alaska (Deadliest Catch meets Jersey Shore!); Levi trolls the country for a girlfriend to bring home to Alaska (The Bachelor meets The Simple Life!); and of course, Levi and Bristol Palin settle down together (16 and Pregnant meets Jon and Kate Plus 8!). Now, it looks like a Levi Johnston reality series is actually happening. Are you ready for this?
Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office will follow Johnston as he campaigns to be the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Yes, you read that correctly: in order to snag his own TV show, Johnston's going to run for office. (And for those viewers who just can't be bothered with politics, the show will also chronicle Levi's life as a young single father, and his quest for Hollywood stardom.) It's Teen Mom meets Real Housewives of DC meets America's Got Talent meets -- okay, we give up! Levi Johnston thinks he can be all things to all people. But does the 20-year-old Alaskan actually think he can win a mayoral election? Will the whole venture be forever ridiculed as Johnston's Folly?
"The more I think about it and look into it, I think there's a possibility we can make it happen," says Johnston, who fully admits that running for office was his producer's idea -- not his. Regardless of whether he has a shot, it's a pretty brilliant way of incorporating politics into Johnston's new show without directly involving the Palin family at all. Sarah Palin was the mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002, and after she won the office of governor, both subsequent Wasilla mayors supported her vice presidential campaign. If he runs into opposition and loses the election, Levi could still try a non-political road to TV fame -- Kate Gosselin could use a babysitter, right?
