Liam Hemsworth gushes about his relationship with Miley Cyrus in the March cover story of Details.
The Hunger Games star, 22, recalls the first time he mentioned his future love to his older brother Chris, himself a well-known actor (Thor).
"I just had an audition with Miley Cyrus!" Liam told his more experienced brother after trying out for The Last Song in 2009. "How funny is that?"
Hemsworth went on to win not only the part, but the heart of his leading lady in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation.
"What happened happened, and we've been together two and a half years," Hemsworth says. "She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you're filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you're not human if you don't feel something."
After the teen-targeted romantic drama wrapped, Hemsworth accompanied Cyrus and the rest of her celebrity family to their Nashville home. The Australian actor says he's since gotten to know the tight-knit Cyrus family quite well.
[Billy Ray] is very spiritual," Hemsworth says. "He's just one of the nicest guys. Very accommodating. I've listened to his music since we got together. It's awesome."
As for the marijuana controversy at Cyrus' 19th birthday party last fall (when the singer-actress was caught on video saying, "You know you're a stoner when friends make you a 'Bob Miley' cake -- you know you smoke way too much f***in' weed") Hemsworth is livid that the video went public.
"She's in a room full of her best friends," the actor says. "And you have one person who comes in there and videos it. The poor girl can't have one night where she can feel safe in her own world. It's ridiculous."
