Lindsay Lohan isn't having a banner week. First, her starring role as Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor was slammed by critics and audiences alike, and now she has been arrested -- again!
According to People, the Liz & Dick star was arrested and charged with third-degree assault in the New York City neighborhood of Chelsea at 4 a.m. this morning. The arrest is the result of an alleged altercation with another woman in a trendy nightclub.
A New York Police Department spokesman said Lohan, 26, allegedly got in a verbal exchange with another patron at Club Avenue, on 10th Avenue between 17th and 18th Streets, Fox News reports. The confrontation then got physical, the NYPD says.
TMZ reports that after Lohan asked the woman -- who was seated in another booth near her -- to give her some space. Sometime later the altercation became physical, and the troubled actress reportedly punched the other woman in the face.
By the time the police arrived, Lohan had already gotten (as a passenger) in a friend's car, but the NYPD intercepted the vehicle and made the arrest. Lohan was taken into custody at Manhattan's 10th Precinct.
According to TMZ, Lohan was released by 8 a.m. with a desk-ticket appearance, so she'll have to appear before a judge in the near future. This is far from the first time Lohan has been in trouble with the law. Lohan could be charged shortly with a misdemeanor for lying to police in June after her accident on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica.
