Even when Lindsay Lohan isn't causing trouble, trouble seems to follow her. This weekend, the actress reportedly had a frightening and violent encounter with a man she met at a New York City night club. The alleged assailant, a 25-year-old California man named Christian LaBella, is being charged with assault and harassment.
Lohan's night started out innocently enough. The actress was hanging out with friends at the trendy club 1Oak, where she ran into LaBella. It's unclear whether they'd met before, but they must have hit it off, because Lohan invited him back to her hotel room. It was there at the W Hotel near New York's Union Square, in the early hours of Sunday morning, that things got ugly.
According to police, Lindsay discovered around 4:30 a.m. that her guest had been secretly taking cell phone photos of her. She confronted him and threw his phone, at which point LaBella reportedly threw her on the bed, scratching her hands. Lohan ran from the room. When she returned later, LaBella reportedly attacked her, choking her from behind and pinning her to the ground.
Thankfully, Lindsay was not alone at the time. After a friend pulled LaBella off her, the actress pulled the fire alarm, and the man fled. Amazingly, the fire alarm thing worked; LaBella was stuck in a stairwell because the alarm disabled the elevators, and police intercepted him before he left the hotel. LaBella was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment. Lohan has not sought medical attention for her injuries.
Though not much is known about Christian LaBella, he appears to be something of a fame-seeker. TMZ located his Facebook page, on which he has posted pictures of himself posing with Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Girls Gone Wild mogul Joe Francis, as well as Republican politicians Herman Caine and Paul Ryan. He also claims to be related to Heather McDonald, a comedian who appears frequently on Chelsea Lately.
Lohan, who has been promoting her upcoming Lifetime movie Liz & Dick, is still on "informal" probation from her 2011 necklace theft. Earlier in September, she was charged with a hit and run in the same New York City neighborhood as the assault.
