Lindsay Lohan is troubled and knows it, but reportedly the actress can't get the help she needs, because she's broke.
The 26-year-old Liz & Dick star, who's facing the possibility of considerable jail time (up to 245 days!) for her probation violation, apparently wants to seek the help of a professional therapist, but is telling friends that she doesn't have the cash to spare to see a psychiatrist.
"Lindsay is overwhelmed at the prospect of going back to jail and believes that a psychiatrist can help her through this trying time of her life. However, Lindsay has a huge problem, she can't afford to pay a good shrink because she literally has no money," a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.
The insider added that "her health insurance would only pay about 20 percent of the mental health bills, and the docs that she wants to see charge $250 to $300 an hour."
Lohan's financial problems are almost as debilitating as her legal ones, and now even the IRS is after her for nearly a quarter-million dollars in unpaid federal taxes.
With her debt dangerously piling up, Lohan is running out of options to earn money, especially after her Lifetime biopic of Elizabeth Taylor was panned by critics, not to mention most of Twitter. Lindsay's father Michael, however, says he's furious that her management team has turned away six-figure deals.
"One deal is for $100,000 for a phone application which blocks unwanted calls," Michael previously told Radar Online. "The other is for $30,000 for a 'Don't Drink and Drive message!'"
Regardless of whether Lohan sees a psychiatrist, come Jan. 15 (when her new court date is set), she could wind up behind bars.
