Things aren't going so well for Lindsay Lohan these days. Last week, a representative for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they were investigating Lindsay in conjunction with the theft of a $2500 necklace from a posh L.A. boutique. Now, TMZ is reporting that the 24-year-old actress will be arraigned in Airport Court in L.A. on Wednesday and, according to "sources close to the case," be charged with a single count of felony grand theft.
The bad news doesn't end there. If convicted, Lohan -- who was reportedly photographed wearing the stolen necklace -- could be sentenced to up to three years in California state prison.
A person claiming to represent the Mean Girls starlet returned the one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry to the L.A.P.D. last week, shortly after police requested a search warrant for Lohan's Venice, Calif., home.
For her part, Lohan maintains her innocence. In a Feb. 5 statement to TMZ, the actress' lawyer said, "We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press."
Lindsay isn't the only Lohan feeling the pain this week. The post-Super Bowl episode of Glee mercilessly ripped on Lindsay's mom Dina, labeling her and her fictitious dog Sparky Lohan "losers" -- a development that did not sit too well with Mama Lohan.
On the bright side of things, TMZ is also reporting that, despite her past and present troubles with the law, Lindsay is being considered for a role in Warner Bros.' upcoming Superman reboot, which has 300 helmer Zack Snyder on tap to direct and Henry Cavill set to star as the Man of Steel. While TMZ's source says that the part isn't Lois Lane, it is described as a "major character." Now all Lindsay needs to do is get this felony grand theft business taken care of faster than a speeding bullet, and she'll be good to go.
