Lindsay Lohan Jail Neighbor Alexis Neiers of Bling Ring

It's a small world, after all: Lindsay Lohan's new neighbor -- and by that, we mean the girl in the next jail cell over -- is part of the infamous "Bling Ring" who allegedly burglarized the homes of Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton, Audrina Partridge....and Lindsay Lohan!

Alexis Neiers, 19, was one of several well-off teenage friends apprehended for stealing property -- mostly jewelry and designer clothes -- from young Hollywood celebs between October 2008 and August 2009. According to a Vanity Fair expose, the unlikely gang of thieves would read the gossip blogs to find out when stars were on location, then sneak into their houses and walk out with suitcases of luxury goods (they called it "going shopping"). They targeted mainly fashion icons -- like Hilton, whom they robbed five times after discovering a house key under her welcome mat.

But robbing Lohan's house is what got them caught. Three of the "Bling Ring" members -- not including Neiers, as it happens -- allegedly took $130,000 in clothes and jewelry from Lindsay's home in August. Lohan turned her surveillance tapes over to TMZ, and enough tips poured in that the L.A.P.D. was able to make arrests.

Neiers is the Bling Ring's most prominent member, since her arrest and trial were documented on the E! reality show Pretty Wild. Although Neiers wasn't connected directly to the Lohan robbery, police found a Chanel necklace belonging to Lindsay at her house. In May, Neiers pleaded no contest to stealing over half a million dollars worth of watches, cash and other property from Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom -- as a result of her plea, she avoided a trial and got a six-month jail sentence. Alexis Neiers was then placed in Paris Hilton's old jail cell....right next to the cell in which Lohan now resides. (Other alleged gang members have pleaded not guilty and are due to return to court in August.)

So will celebrity-wannabe Neiers and actual celebrity Lohan become unlikely friends? According to MSNBC, their cells "are close enough that the two women could talk if they wanted to." Since Lohan will reportedly be isolated from the other inmates, even during showers, she may get desperate enough to start a conversation. Maybe they can complain about the food together: according to Neiers' mother, the former reality star has lost eight pounds since being incarcerated "from not being able to keep down the food."
