Lindsay Lohan's Life in Jail

Lindsay Lohan will be serving a 90-day stint in jail, but is prison time for a celebrity exactly like incarceration for everybody else? The answer: yes and no. According to legal experts and former inmates who've spoken to news outlets including the New York Daily News, here's what the troubled 24-year-old actress has in store for her:

Lots of alone time. Because Lohan is a high-profile inmate, she'll be separated from the general population and confined to a cell by herself. She'll probably be allowed out for just one hour a day.

Cafeteria food, but worse. According to one former inmate, prison food specials include "teri-yucky" (teriyaki), "mystery meat" (baloney sandwiches), "erasers" (chicken patties) and "s**t on a shingle" (ground beef and potatoes on toast). They do, however, sell candy bars at the commissary, so she'll still be able to satisfy her sweet tooth.

Early wake-up calls. Forget sleeping in. Lohan may be notoriously bad at showing up on time for film shoots, but that won't be an option in prison: the PA system wakes everyone up at 5 a.m. sharp.

No cute underwear. Along with her dark blue prison uniform, Lohan will be required to wear prison-issue (i.e. used) bras and underwear. Make-up is also forbidden. On the plus side, at least dark blue is a better color for her than bright orange.

Time off for good behavior. Most celebrities seem to serve a significantly shorter sentence than they were given -- partly because it's so time-consuming and expensive for state prisons to keep them isolated and protected. Paris Hilton served 23 days out of 45; Michelle Rodriguez served 18 days out of 180; and Nicole Richie served only 82 minutes of a four-day sentence. Unless Lohan is a problem inmate, she may end up serving just a fraction of her court-ordered time. She might be back to sleeping late and eating well in a matter of weeks.
