Linen Daffodil Pillow

With just a bit of thread, floss and linen, you can make a sunny spring accent pillow.

Supplies:

  • Pre-made pillow in removable linen casing
  • 1/4 yard each of yellow and 2 shades of green pre-washed linen fabric
  • Thread to match the linen fabric
  • 1/2 yard Wonder-Under two-sided fusing
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery needle
  • Pins
  • Orange floss

Directions:

First iron the fusing onto the back of your fabrics. Download the template, and cut out. Lay the template pieces onto the fusing, which has already been ironed onto the fabric, and trace.

Remove the pillow form from the linen casing, then lay the fabric flat and arrange the linen template pieces on it. Following the directions on the fusing packaging, iron the blossoms into place. This holds the pieces in place and makes it much easier to sew them.

You can use a hoop to hold the fabric as you sew the small detail stitches. Using the matching thread for each color linen, straight-stitch the pieces to the pillow. For the accent on each flower, use the orange floss and the chain stitch or the zigzag chain stitch, which you can reference online or in any embroidery book.
